Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if this program is for me?
If you spend anytime wondering about the following, this program is for you!
 |
“What would my life look like with a baby?” |
 |
“What about my career which is my passion?” |
 |
“My partner wants children and I don’t know what I want.” |
 |
“Time is running out.” |
 |
“Everybody says I’d be a good parent but does that mean I have to be one?” |
 |
“I don’t know if I can be a good enough mother/father.” |
 |
“What if I regret my decision? How do I get over that?” |
This 12-week program is for you if you are struggling in any way with the issue of deciding about motherhood or fatherhood. You may be single, partnered, married, of any age, culture or sexual orientation. You may be struggling with conceiving. You might be considering adoption, becoming a biological parent, part-time parent, co-parent or stepparent. You may have already decided yes or no and still want to explore your mixed feelings.
This program can be done in person, over the phone or in a support group setting.
What can I expect?
You can expect 12 exercises done over a 12-week period. Each week we focus on one exercise followed by a written home exploration assignment. The home exploration assignments can take 15 to 30 minutes to do.
There will be a combination of experiential & writing exercises. You can expect a safe and structured environment free of judgment so that you can explore and understand the many feelings associated with making this decision.
Can I do the program in 8 or 10 weeks?
When I started doing this program it was done in 8 weeks, which grew to 10 weeks, which grew to 12 weeks. I have found that the 12 weeks is what is needed to tease out the unconscious recordings that run all the time in your head. These recordings get in the way of your decision making process.
No matter where you are on the yes/no continuum, 12 weeks is what is needed. Most people experience that it goes very quickly.
What is the difference between the individual program and the support group?
The structure of the program is the same. However, women find it validating to be with other women who are struggling with the same issue. Some women prefer the individual setting.
With the individual program I customize the home exploration assignments more of the time. In the support group each person gets the same assignment.
Can my partner and I do the
program together?
I do not recommend this. It’s important that each person has their own uncensored process when deciding this very important question.
How does it work if I’m already seeing a therapist?
This program is an ideal adjunct if you are currently in therapy. The reason is as we work together and explore the issues that surface I am able to say to you…. "you might want to spend more time on that particular issue in your individual therapy." Because of the time limited structure we cannot always explore an issue to completion like you might do in your individual therapy. This program works well along side individual or couples therapy. However, one need not be in therapy to participate in the program.
Only you can know what’s true for you…
I’ll help you get there.
I have helped many and I’d like to help you.

“I said to myself, I have things in my head that are not like what anyone has taught me – shapes and ideas so near to me – so natural to my way of being and thinking that it hasn’t occurred to me to put them down. I decided to start anew, to strip away what I had been taught.”
